Artist's Description
Something took over me and led me to the garage one day back in 2000. I took out a palette knife and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I usually paint in watercolor, and I missed doing oils once in a while as this was the medium I started out in.
After I was done, I took one look and could hear the crackling firecracker sounds of a Chinese New Year celebration. This oil now hangs in a San Diego home.

About Frances Ku
Frances has been drawing since three years of age. Born in Taiwan and raised in Okinawa, she took art classes throughout high school and went to Parsons School of Design in New York City for a year. She also went back to Taiwan and drew political cartoons for a daily newspaper. Her desire to create beauty eventually led her to Maui, Hawaii. At 32 years old, she finally began painting full time by teaching herself watercolors. Watercoloring for her has been a lesson in respecting the element of water and being a co-creating partner to the dance.
