Frances has been drawing since three years of age. Born in Taiwan and raised in Okinawa, she took art classes throughout high school and went to Parsons School of Design in New York City for a year. She also went back to Taiwan and drew political cartoons for a daily newspaper. Her desire to create beauty eventually led her to Maui, Hawaii. At 32 years old, she finally began painting full time by teaching herself watercolors. Watercoloring is about letting go of control, being open to surprises, and appreciating the magic moment. And only by experimenting and pushing the envelope has she been able to discover a technique on her own.
When Frances got an iPad, she discovered the instant magic of digital art. This gives her the freedom and ease to express her visual concepts in a simplified way. She can combine many different media in one go. By allowing her inner flow of creativity to guide her, art always feels fresh and exciting.
She has done oils sporadically, but her concentration has always been watercolors and now digital art.
