I look up and wonder how the stars are formed. This is what the answer looks like. I approach abstracts in a loose way without any idea of what the result is. I have nothing in mind except to go with the flow. And whatever it appears to be is what I end up titling.

Frances has been drawing since three years of age. Born in Taiwan and raised in Okinawa, she took art classes throughout high school and went to Parsons School of Design in New York City for a year. She also went back to Taiwan and drew political cartoons for a daily newspaper. Her desire to create beauty eventually led her to Maui, Hawaii. At 32 years old, she finally began painting full time by teaching herself watercolors. Watercoloring for her has been a lesson in respecting the element of water and being a co-creating partner to the dance.
