The shapes are like irregular steps heading toward a light and reminded me of our divine walk in life, where one withstands trials, overcomes, ever reaching toward the Ultimate. The shapes can also be seen as challenges that we encounter along the way.
Once I finished this piece and looking at it, I was able to come up with the name for it. The painting holds a lot of meaning for me. And I hope it will hold the same for you.

Frances has been drawing since three years of age. Born in Taiwan and raised in Okinawa, she took art classes throughout high school and went to Parsons School of Design in New York City for a year. She also went back to Taiwan and drew political cartoons for a daily newspaper. Her desire to create beauty eventually led her to Maui, Hawaii. At 32 years old, she finally began painting full time by teaching herself watercolors. Watercoloring for her has been a lesson in respecting the element of water and being a co-creating partner to the dance. Watercolor's challenges taught her important lessons about painting and life: to let go of control, be open to surprises, and appreciate the magic moment. And only by experimenting and pushing...
