It's neither glamorous nor particularly easy. But what stand out for me and make it all worthwhile are the times when a customer shed tears because my work touched them. Or I formed deep friendships with those who admired or collected my art. Then there was a period of time when people were so generous they would tell me me keep the change, or just hand me extra cash to support what I do.
These and more are the experiences that are precious and etched in my memory forever. I certainly had no idea as a second grader posing for a photo with my prize, for winning third place in a fire prevention drawing contest.
